Pedagogical project

The Classe Préparatoire for the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime is a preparatory class recognised and controlled by the State.

This preparatory class prepares students for the entrance exam to the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Maritime, the first-class Captain’s course in maritime navigation (seafaring engineer).

This preparatory class can also provide a scientific refresher course for students with other objectives.

The preparatory class is placed under the responsibility of a main teacher whose mission is to:

·       follow, encourage, incite each student to work harder,
·       coordinate all the actions of the teaching team,
·       schedule homework calendars, mock exams.

Class attendance, supervised homework and mock exams are compulsory and strictly controlled.

A continuous control is set up at the beginning of the year and four mock exams are organised.

Sought profiles: motivated, curious and hard-working.

Programme / Curriculum

The Classe Préparatoire for the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime is a preparatory class recognised and controlled by the State.

Compulsory courses:

  • Mathematics 8h / week
  • Physics 7h / week
  • English 4h / week
  • French 4h / week
  • Maritime culture 2h / week
  • Sailing (optional activity offered to the whole class) 4h / week

The subjects taught are those tested in the competitive examination.

Pedagogical activities are also proposed to consolidate each student’s maritime culture.

As the competition takes place in May, the preparation time for the competition is approximately 28 weeks, so students are expected to work intensively from the start of the school year until the day before the competition.

Saint Jo Sup students are also prepared for:

TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication), Saint-Jo Sup is an approved centre for organising its students’ TOEIC® tests every year.

Voltaire test

Motivational interviews. Several sessions are organised.

Stays abroad

They are an opportunity to discover the study and professional world abroad.

Saint-Jo Sup students are invited to look for internships abroad, with the help of the International Relations Department. Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, China and Argentina have already welcomed our students.

How to apply

The Classe Préparatoire for the École Nationale Supérieure Maritime is a preparatory class recognised and controlled by the State.

Applications are open on the parcoursup.fr website as of January 2021.

All the student information provided on the parcoursup.fr platform is studied by the recruitment committee in order to identify the candidates who are committed to passing the exam.

This class is mainly aimed at students with a Baccalauréat S or who have majored in Mathematics and Physics&Chemistry during their Grades 11 & 12 (or Engineering Sciences and Mathematics).

However, applications from students who hold another Baccalauréat and are highly motivated will also be considered.

Tuition fee: 1902.43 euros. Fee applicable at the start of the school year in September 2020, subject to change.
